about
"FRSTGD" is a new song by BERVATRA, a unit of Shinichi Suda and Kosaku Shimamoto. The song begins with the sound of a car ignition, and then transforms from concrete sounds to minimalist techno. The song progresses with a strange melody and ends with a return to real sounds at 2 minutes and 40 seconds. The goal was to create a piece of music that sounds like a remix of an Akira Kurosawa film from the 50's by Autechre. The music is based on improvisation using a system we developed ourselves, and then recomposed. We wanted to mix experimental, minimal techno and music concretes with club music and contemporary music by expanding the methodology of "sampling". This is the intention of this project. The tones, beats, and melodies are not independent tracks, but interfere with each other, and each beat intervenes with the melody.
